ATF National Odor Recognition Test (NORT)
Eighteen one-gallon sterile unlined paint cans are needed for a full ATF National Odor Recognition Test (NORT). These cans are securely fastened to the 12 inch base and placed in a circle. Then a smaller container (small stash box or one-quart sterile unlined paint can with multiple holes in lid ) are placed in all 18 one-gallon paint cans with some holding explosive compounds, distractors, or being empty. Inside the inner cans, there are six explosive compounds, 11 distractors and one empty can.
